Handling Non-periodic Events Together with Complex Constrained Tasks in Distributed Real-time Systems

چکیده
In this paper we show how off-line scheduling and fixed priority scheduling (FPS) can be combined to get the advantages of both the capability to cope with complex timing constraints while providing run-time flexibility. We present a method to take advantage of the flexibility provided by FPS while guaranteeing complex constraint satisfaction on periodic tasks. We provide mechanisms to include FPS servers to our previous work, to handle non-periodic events, while still fulfilling the original complex constraints on the periodic tasks. In some cases, e.g., when the complex constraints can not be expressed directly by FPS, we split tasks into instances (artifacts) to obtain a new task set with consistent FPS attributes. Our method is optimal in the sense that it keeps the number of artifacts minimized.

Joint Scheduling of Distributed Complex Periodic and Hard Aperiodic Tasks in Statically Scheduled Systems
In this paper we present algorithms for the joint scheduling of periodic and aperiodic tasks in statically scheduled distributed real-time systems. Periodic tasks are precedence constrained, distributed, and communicating over the nodes of the systems. Both soft and hard aperiodic tasks are handled. After a static schedule has been created in a rst step, the algorithms determine the amount and ...
متن کاملSafety Verification of Real Time Systems Serving Periodic Devices
In real-time systems response to a request from a controlled object must be correct and timely. Any late response to a request from such a device might lead to a catastrophy. The possibility of a task overrun, i.e., missing the deadline for completing a requested task, must be checked and removed during the design of such systems. Safe design of real-time systems running periodic tasks under th...
متن کاملMathematical Model for Bi-objective Maximal Hub Covering Problem with Periodic Variations of Parameters
The problem of maximal hub covering as a challenging problem in operation research. Transportation programming seeks to find an optimal location of a set of hubs to reach maximum flow in a network. Since the main structure's parameters of the problem such as origin-destination flows, costs and travel time, change periodically in the real world applications, new issues arise in handling it. In t...
متن کاملReal-Time Scheduling Algorithms
Real-time systems play an important role in our modern society. They are used in critical control systems that rely on timely response and computed results to function properly. This paper summarizes to an extent the state of real-time systems in the area of scheduling. A vast amount of work that has been done in the area of real-time scheduling by both the operations research and the computer ...
متن کاملConstrained Controller Design for Real-time Delay Recovery in Metro Systems
This study is concerned with the real-time delay recovery problem in metro loop lines. Metro is the backbone of public transportation system in large cities. A discrete event model for traffic system of metro loop lines is derived and presented. Two effective automatic controllers, linear quadratic regulator (LQR) and model predictive controller (MPC), are used to recover train delays. A newly-...
